Mr. Jahangir Javed has over 15 years of professional experience specialization in Operations, Training, Administrations, Logistics, Organizational Structure and Project Management. Possessing excellent management and leadership skills, he started his career in Event Management in 2006 and, after few years, joined the Pathfinder Group. During his tenure within the Pathfinder Group, he has held various appointments, in 2017 he was promoted to Regional Head for Cash-in-Transit (CIT) Services for South Region (Sindh & Balochistan) and in 2019, promoted to Resident Director for the Group Companies. In January 2022, he was upgraded to the position of Chief Operating Officer of Wackenhut Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd. He has been a regular member of the Pathfinder Group’s Pakistan Breakfast event at the World Economic Forum since 2016, among other regular events.

The Pathfinder Group includes the two largest private security companies in Pakistan: Security & Management Services (Pvt) Ltd which has three divisions (Guarding Division, Electronic Safety Services, and Research Collection Services), and Wackenhut Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd. The Pathfinder Group also has a Financial Services & Technology Division which includes Virtual Remittance Gateway (Pvt) Ltd (VRG), i3 Pathfinder Solutions (Pvt) Ltd and iPath (Pvt) Ltd.

Mr. Jahangir Javed holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from the University of Karachi and has attended numerous workshops locally and internationally and holds International Certification in Security and Training from Petroc College, University of Oxford.

Q. What kind of services does Wackenhut Pakistan provide and how does it distinguish itself from other vendors?
Ans. Wackenhut Pakistan known as a cash-in-transit (CIT) company specializes in providing secure transportation and handling of cash, valuable assets, and sensitive documents. The company offers a range of services tailored to meet the specific needs of businesses, financial institutions, and government organizations.

Cash Collection and Delivery: Secure pickup and delivery services for cash deposits and withdrawals, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of cash and valuables between banks, ATMs, retail stores, and other businesses.

ATM Replenishment: Refilling ATMs with cash and facilitating withdrawals from CDMS. They collect money from secure vaults, transport it to ATMs, and restock the machines to ensure they have sufficient funds for customers’ withdrawals. Q. Tell us about your new venture CPC?
Ans. The main objective of a Cash Processing Center (CPC) is to streamline cash handling processes, reduce operational costs and improve overall efficiency for clients dealing with significant cash volumes. By outsourcing cash processing to our specialized center, businesses can concentrate on their core operations while relying on the expertise of professionals to effectively handle and manage cash.

We control and monitor entry and exit points using access control mechanisms to restrict unauthorized access.

We have designated a dedicated space equipped with secure vaults, cash counting machines, and surveillance cameras for cash processing, counting, and verification.

Ans. Empathy has been instrumental in my career success as a COO. By understanding and connecting with others on a deeper level, I have been able to build strong relationships based on trust and collaboration. This, in turn, has facilitated effective communication, allowing me to tailor my messages to different individuals and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner. Moreover, empathy has played a vital role in engaging and motivating my team, resulting in higher productivity and commitment. Through empathizing with clients, I have been able to better understand and meet their needs, ultimately enhancing their satisfaction and generating positive word-of-mouth. Additionally, empathy has sharpened my problem-solving abilities, fostering adaptability and resilience, and enabling me to be a more effective and compassionate leader.

Q. Sometimes there won’t be time to evaluate multiple options. How do you act in the face of ultra-tight deadlines?
Ans. When faced with ultra-tight deadlines, it is crucial to act decisively and prioritize tasks. This can be achieved by setting clear goals and quickly gathering the available information within the limited timeframe. Trusting your expertise and intuition becomes essential, and delegating tasks and maintaining effective communication help streamline the execution of tasks. Additionally, effective time management, embracing agile decision-making, and managing stress are vital in high-pressure situations. After the completion of the tasks, it is important to learn from the experience and seek areas for improvement, allowing for continuous growth and efficiency. By combining these strategies, I have successfully navigated ultra-tight deadlines in the past and achieved the desired outcomes efficiently.

Q. How do you keep track of a company’s progress?
Ans. It’s important to align with the company’s specific goals and regularly review and analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth. This provides a comprehensive view of the company’s progress, financial health, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and compliance with industry standards.

Q. Alongside managing clients, how do you manage the huge guard force and how do you motivate them?
Ans. Effective management and motivation of the guard force require an approach that recognizes the needs and goals of each individual. By creating a supportive environment, offering growth opportunities, recognizing achievements, and promoting open communication, it is possible to foster a motivated and dedicated guard force. Rewarding guards for their dedication and outstanding work helps to nurture a positive work environment and motivates them to consistently deliver their best. This can be done through verbal recognition, certificates, or incentives. In our case, we provide monthly bonuses to our entire guard force for achieving targeted milestones. Prioritizing the well-being of the guard force includes ensuring fair compensation and conducting regular health checkups for the employees and their families. We provide access to our own medical facility for these checkups and offer hospitalization in our panel on-board hospitals.
