My connection with Pathfinder Group began during the first semester of my Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at Iqra University, an institution known for its rigorous academic curriculum and its emphasis on cultivating strong business acumen. The university’s coursework provided me knowledge with a solid foundation in various business disciplines, including finance, marketing, and management which helped me in commencing my professional life. However, I was eager to supplement my academic knowledge with practical experience, which led me to join Pathfinder Group as an intern. This decision was driven by a desire to gain real-world insights and apply theoretical knowledge in a corporate setting.

Pathfinder Group’s internship program was designed to immerse students in real business scenarios, offering practical experience that complements academic training. From the outset, it was clear that the company’s commitment to nurturing young talent was a cornerstone of their approach. The supportive environment and the emphasis on professional development allowed me to integrate smoothly into the corporate world. I felt valued and welcomed from day one, which significantly contributed to my growth and confidence as a young professional. I was delighted when Chief Operating Officer Jahangir Javed offered me a full-time position as a Business Development Executive during my internship. I have been incredibly inspired by his leadership and mentoring. My own career development was influenced by his dedication to the growth of upcoming professionals and his outstanding work ethic. Nonetheless, venturing into a full-time job brought its own arrangement of difficulties, many students face difficulty in understanding what the culture of the organization is and how to deal with personnel adhering to official norms and following organizational hierarchies.

It proved to be quite challenging to strike a balance between the rigorous requirements of university coursework and the fast-paced demands of the corporate environment. During my experience, I encountered colleagues whose approach to mentorship differed significantly from my expectations. Their method involved allowing me to make mistakes as a means of self-directed learning. This approach, which favored a policy of discouragement rather than direct support, was intended to encourage growth through error. Although their intentions were to foster resilience and independent problem-solving skills, it sometimes led to a challenging learning environment.

The need for effective time management and stress management skills is highlighted by the frequent occurrence of errors and increased stress caused by assignments and deadlines for work. While the difficulties I encountered were significant, they also provided valuable learning opportunities. “Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm,” Winston Churchill famously said. I was able to approach my challenges with resiliency and optimism thanks to this perspective. Each challenge gave me a chance to improve my skills, time management techniques, and stress-management abilities. The Business Development Executive position was both challenging and fulfilling. I was able to put what I had learned in school to use in a real-world setting and learn new skills at the same time. The position provided a platform to investigate various aspects of business development and offered numerous opportunities for professional development. Notwithstanding the intrinsic difficulties, the experience was hugely satisfying and instrumental in molding my profession direction.

Finding a balance between work and study was a considerable challenge, but the supportive and accommodating environment at Pathfinder Group made it manageable. The company’s flexibility and understanding were crucial in helping me navigate the demands of both my professional and academic responsibilities. A shining example of the company’s dedication to the welfare of the community is its initiative to fund the education of the children of security guards. For security guards’ children who may not have the financial means to pursue higher education, Pathfinder Group conducts in-house tests. In the event that these youngsters finish the assessments, they become qualified to take an entry test at Jajja Recruit School. After that, successful candidates receive complete financial aid to attend the college. This initiative not only makes sure that deserving students get a good education but also helps their families, which helps the community.
