An ideal education system, its implications and benefits in the perspective of Pakistan

Introduction

The currently implemented education system of Pakistan has reached to its final limits and it is now bound to be changed. One of the biggest practical issue in this system is that, the system is producing 16 years old fully grown-up boy/ girl who does not know how to survive in this world even though he/ she spent his/ her almost 12 years in school with huge expenses. Other issues include ill-realization of needs and beliefs of population, non-existence of equality/opportunities, improper control over teaching contents and non-realization of importance of ethics, mannerism and discipline. The proposed system with detailed outline of syllabus from first to 10th class is designed to enable a student to think properly for his/ her future on solid grounds. The proposed educational system has been developed keeping in mind the current and future requirements of Pakistan. The system stressed on the importance of ethics, hands on skills and physical workout to produce disciplined students with zeal, scientific know how, technical/ observational skills, well mannerism and the ability of self-defense. Most importantly, the system provides a beautiful mergence of Islamic teachings and ideology with the present state-of-the-art.

Advantages Education equality

Pakistan is running multiple educational systems as discussed in introduction section. Each system has its own objective and each system is focusing on a highly focused goal. For example, the goal of our English medium system is to make students to compete where English language is most important such as F.Sc, O-levels and the final goal of parents would be to enable a child to go abroad. Coming towards a Madrasa system, it is one of the most common mistakes of policy makers to think that students with no financial support will go to Madrasa. The reality is that, it is not the financials, it is the mind set of majority of the population that they want their children to be more Muslim than a formally educated English speaking person. The basic reason is less to no ethical education in our formal education system. This is the main reason why majority of our female students have been barred from the formal education. A lot of opinions have been put forwarded on the topic of female education but roughly all the studies just bypassed the basic issue of society and the basic flaw of the current educational system. It is not the issue of male dominancy and/or other loudly debated ill-perceived problems, it is own very educational system which has no essence of ethical education, Islamic teachings and critical thinking/ learning.

The proposed system due to its modules of Islamic ethics and life of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) will enable students to study the ethical needs of society and the positive way of life. The modules will also enable students to understand the position/ role of females in the society as no one can deny the fact that it is finally the ISLAM which gives respect and dignity to the females. Other that gender equality, the system also possesses language sets to break the language barriers globally. The system possesses all the necessary modules to attract students from English medium schools, O-levels and Madrasas.

Ethically and morally strong youth

It is unfortunate that the current education system due to its emphasis on science and technology neglect the importance of ethical and moral education. The result is that, now a day, our scientific communities are forced to arrange research and scientific ethics, copy rights and plagiarism. This system includes social-political ethics and moralities which will produce ethically strong youth with high moral values.

Control over sectarianism

The sectarian revolts in Pakistan are very common and many useful lives have been lost due to extremism and sectarianism. The root cause of this issue is the inability of our education system to give proper picture of Islam and other religions. Quran and Islamic studies are mandatory in current education system but these modules are not enough and unable to draw proper picture of Islam. Other than Israel, Pakistan is the only country which had been incepted on the ideology of religion. And if we think that Islam should not have anything to do with country’s political issues and policies, we are on a very wrong side. It is impossible to exclude Islam from the matters of the country and nation. Our community tried to exclude Islam from matters of nation and the results were (1) extreme radicalization and (2) sectarianism. Islam became hostage by some beneficiaries and they wrongly utilized the sentiments of the nation. The proposed system provides complete Islamic education so that the students could be able to think properly. The Islamically educated youth will be resistant to brainwashing and it will be easy to control sectarianism.

Skilled Education

It is a dilemma of current educational system not to provide any practical skill set to the students. To cope with this issue, Govt. initiated in formal or non-formal education. This step clearly indicates that the current system is not up to the mark and must be changed but still Govt. decides not to wrap up the system because there was no any alternative. The proposed system possesses all the necessary modules to teach hands-on basic skills to the students. The module of wood working for instance would enable a student to work with variety of tools and practices necessary for wood working industry. One year of rigorous training under the supervision of skilled teachers in the particular field would definitely produce highly skilled personals. Other yearlong industrial skill sets i.e., metal forming etc. would allow students to develop technical and analytical skills.

Physically and mentally strong youth

Our current education system is lacking the ability to produce physically strong young students. Although co-curricular activities have been suggested and practiced but they are not strictly the part of the education system. The proposed system includes physical activity modules in every study year which will develop physical and mental strength of the students.

Entrepreneurship

An immense emphasis has been made on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial culture in Pakistan. Unfortunately our current system starting from 1st to 10th class do not offer any single module or even a vague evidence to train student to compete in entrepreneurial environment. It will be safe to say that the majority of young boys/girls after 10th standard are not even familiar with the word “entrepreneurship”. The proposed system has been developed in such a way that students will be given hands-on training and theoretical bases of most wide-spread and well rooted industries such as wood working, metal forming, gardening etc.

The said educational model will improve the thinking ability of the students by enabling them to work out required skill set and acquaintance with various machines and tools. This system will enable a student to join these industries as skilled labor and/or start his/her own business. Still another way for students will be to go for formal education such as F.Sc (pre-engineering/per-medical). The system will also enable students to work part time to support his/her expenses for formal higher education.

Breaking the language barriers

By understanding the language of multiple big nations, our students will be able to move to any part of the globe easily and without any issue of understandability of language and culture. This will improve employment options and broaden the minds of Pakistani nation towards multiculturalism. This will also improve foreign relations of Pakistan in a better direction.

Conclusion

There is no doubt that our current education system from class 1 up to matriculation is reaching to its limits and it is unable to produce globally compatible brilliant minds. Various suggestions have been put forwarded to improve the system but roughly all the suggestions and opinions are lacking any strong plan, road map and/ or strategy. In this study, I presented a complete education system from class 1 to matriculation and discussed its advantages and how the presented system can improve the students in nearly all the global challenges. The proposed system has the ability to produce skilled youth who can contribute to the economy of the nation right after their matriculation degree.
