Profile of HE Ambassador Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul

Born in Ankara on May 30, 1972 HE Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul is married with two children. With a Bachelor of Arts (BA)  Degree in International Relations from Ankara University, he is a career diplomat having served in various world capitals. Joining the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in 1974, his first posting was as Attaché, Department of Cyprus from 1994 to 1995. In 1995 he entered into military service till Dec 1996. From Dec 1996 to April 1998 he was Attaché, North and Central Europe and the Baltic States, then he served as Third Secretary, Deputy Directorate General for America for a month, April 1998 to May 1998. Thereafter from May 1998 to July 2000 he was Third Secretary Turkish Embassy in Sofia.  From July 2000 to Dec 2002 he served firstly as Third Secretary, thereafter as Second Secretary, Embassy of  Turkey in Athens. From Dec 2002 to Sept 2004 he was Second Secretary and then First Secretary, Deputy Directorate General of Northeastern Mediterranean. From 2004 to 2008 as First Secretary, Turkish Permanent Mission to the UN Office in Vienna and from 2008 to 2010 as Head of Department, Non-Proliferation/Arms Control/Disarmament, MFA. In the Turkish Embassy in Berlin he was First Counsellor 2010  to  2012 and for the next two years, 2012 to 2014 as Minister-Counsellor, Embassy of Turkey in Sofia. From 2014 till Dec 2017 he was Deputy Directorate General of Bilateral Political Affairs for the Middle East (Syria and Lebanon). From Dec 29, 2017 His Excellency is the Turkish Ambassador in Pakistan.
